A$AP Rocky brought his AWGE label back to New York in a surprise show just before Fashion Week began, marking a deliberate homecoming after two seasons in Paris. The move felt personal — Rocky noted that being from New York made it feel right — and that sense of roots ran through the entire collection.
The showing spanned both menswear and womenswear, moving fluidly between sharp tailoring, preppy classics, workwear, and sportswear, often blending all of them at once in a way that felt characteristically Rocky — controlled but with an edge of disorder. Plaid appeared throughout, at times evoking a ’90s schoolgirl neatness before being disrupted by fur trims, exaggerated silhouettes, or clashing fabrics. Some tailoring had a latex-slick, confrontational quality, while other pieces leaned into oversized workwear shapes. Sporty elements were woven throughout, including leather racing coats and cropped jerseys developed with Puma, and eyewear from Ray-Ban, where Rocky serves as creative director.
The show itself broke from convention. Guests were brought into the backstage world, with makeup stations set up directly on the runway and a live feed projecting behind-the-scenes preparations across the walls of a grand former bank space. Rocky said he wanted people to see the process, including its imperfections.
Accessories carried much of the collection’s conceptual weight. Oversized, deliberately impractical bags framed fashion as attitude over function. Fur baby pouches and a large leather baby carriage extended that idea further, with Rocky using fatherhood as a styling statement — putting men visibly and stylishly in caregiving roles. “I just wanted to put it under a different scope and show urban people doing it, swagging it up,” he said.
Rihanna watched from the front row alongside A$AP Nast, dressed in full AWGE. The show was sprawling and at times messy, but it was sincere — less a polished presentation than a reflection of identity, community, and culture. In coming home, Rocky didn’t just change his show’s location. He reoriented his entire fashion conversation around where he came from.
