KidSuper’s People’s Runway Puts Caribbean Designers in the Spotlight

On September 14, Brooklyn Borough Hall will transform into The People’s Runway, a democratic showcase of five emerging voices handpicked by KidSuper’s founder and designer Colm Dillane, and Borough President Antonio Reynoso.

Among them, two Caribbean designers are set to command attention. Ahmrii Johnson, the Bahamian American artist weaving together Caribbean craft, botanical science, and Indigenous codes, is bringing a language of nature and ancestry to the runway. Meanwhile, Daveed Baptiste, who immigrated from Haiti, continues his exploration of migration and cultural memory, spotlighting the resilience and preservation of Haitian identity.

The mix is fresh, urgent, and deeply personal—precisely the kind of storytelling that Brooklyn fashion is known for. Alongside Johnson and Baptiste, the lineup includes Kent Anthony, Rojin Jung, and Shriya Myneni—each bringing their own narratives of heritage and innovation. Dillane, serving as Brooklyn’s inaugural Arts Ambassador, is mentoring the group.
